So I’ve started taking summer courses five days a week at 8am, and I’m still adjusting to it. Posting will be back to normal tomorrow … for real.

In the meantime, a fashion-related joke my dad sent me:

Jennifer’s wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement – not even her parent’s nasty divorce.

Her mother had found the perfect dress to wear and would be the best-dressed mother-of-the-bride ever.

A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father’s new, young wife had bought the same exact dress as her mother!

Jennifer asked her father’s new young wife to exchange it, but she refused.  ”Absolutely not! I look like a million bucks in this dress, and  I’m wearing it,” she replied.

Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, ”Never mind sweetheart. I’ll get another dress. After all, it’s your special day.”

A few days later, they went shopping and found another gorgeous dress for her mother.

When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, ”Aren’t you going to return the other dress? You really don’t have another occasion where you could wear it.”

Her mother just smiled and replied, ”Of course I do, dear…..I’m wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding.”

    Hah! That’s awesome!

  • Ella:

    I feel like I don’t get this joke…

  • Amanda:

@Ella – The mother is going to keep the duplicate dress and wear it to the rehearsal dinner, which is traditionally the night before the wedding. Then, the ex-husband’s new wife will be stuck either trying to find a new dress in 12 hours or wearing the same dress to the wedding.

  • Ella:

Oh. I guess I didn’t see that as a big deal. I get it now.

Good luck with your classes this summer!

  • Amanda:

@Ella – Yeah, I don’t really think wearing the same dress is a big deal, but in the context of the joke, I thought it was pretty clever.

And thanks! I should be back to normal posting tomorrow, now that I’ve got the rhythm down a little better. Although, 8am Chem … ugh.

  • Ella:

That really sucks. I’m out of school in 10 days and then its school free summer! (Never mind having to read The Bell Jar and annotate it, write a practice college ap essay, 2 huge calculus packets, and spanish reading/essays for our “summer assignments”) I sucked at chem and all science in general… so I’m taking two years of physics. I can’t wait till you start posting again!

    And also, late HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Good luck with your classes this summer!
