Friday Feets – Cork Wedges 1

I was  walking across campus today when I realized it was Friday, and I had yet to right a Friday Feets post. Just as I was wracking my brain, trying to think of a theme, I saw a girl wearing a blue romper and cork wedges.

Now, for the record, I don’t hate all rompers. But I don’t understand why retailers and magazines have been pushing them so hard lately, as they only work on a small subset of the population.

This girl was one of that small subset. She looked so damn summery, I wanted to steal the whole outfit and go to the beach

Of course, I couldn’t steal the outfit and go to the beach immediately – if nothing else, I had to go to algebra. So, in lieu of assault and theft, I figured I’d post a bunch of shoes with cork wedges.

Ciao Bella at ShopStyle

Ciao Bella Riza Wedge – $49.94

I don’t know why I keep picking flower embellishments on shoes, but it’s apparently a theme I’ve got going. These come in a few different colors, and they’re at DSW, so even though it’s only a $10 or so discount, it feels like you’re saving a lot of money. Because, obviously, that’s how it works.

Athena Alexander at ShopStyle

Athena Alexander Raft Wedge Sandal – $99.95

I love that they used four shades of leather for the straps. It’s a nice change from the usual brown braided leather.

J.Crew at ShopStyle

J.Crew Caden Leather Cork Wedge – $150

Maybe it’s just me, but they feel kind of retro and 70s-ish. Plus, the actual footbed of the shoe doesn’t seem too high. It’s always hard for me to walk in wedges when it feels like I’ve got Barbie feet.

Poor Barbie. She couldn’t even enjoy the comfort of sneakers.

Cork wedges, especially when paired with rompers, are tricky – one wrong turn and it looks like you’re turning tricks next to your trailer. I’ve seen it happen too often that what had potential to be cute just turns out ugly and trashy.
