A couple weeks ago, I started thinking about expanding Friday Feets to include small lines – the stuff you can’t find through links on ShopStyle.  As luck would have it, a few days later I met a girl wearing really cool, unusual jewelry – all from her line Garage Gypsy.

I love it when a plan comes together.

So, Chairman Kaga is proud to introduce the first Friday Feets Finds ….

Abstract Power Cocktail Ring – $20

I am not a big cocktail ring person, and I don’t like flower jewelry. Which is why I like this ring so much – it’s a cocktail ring, but it doesn’t look like one. It looks like a rose, but a deconstructed one. It’s hard to tell from this picture, but it really takes shape once it’s on your hand. This is a cocktail ring for those of us who don’t want to wear the giant “I got this from a flea market and by flea market I mean Banana Republic” rings.
Waketah Feather Earrings – $32

I’ll be honest, it took some close reading for me to figure out whether these are or are not feathers. I know, I’m easily confused. They’re molded clay, which is a good thing, given how easily feathers can be bent, frayed or end up looking mottled. And, if you’ve read past Friday Feets, you know how I feel about black with metal accents.
Hook’n Eye Leather Bracelet – $44 (not available online)

I actually wound up buying this bracelet. I’ve been on the hunt for a leather wrap bracelet, but most of the ones I’ve tried on have been too stiff or too awkward looking. This one is really soft, wraps nicely, and has a really interesting closure design (it’s hook and eye, like a corset, but easier to close). I’ve been wearing it constantly since buying it last week, and feel at least 37% cooler as a result.

Wire Work Cuff – $52

You get the width of a cuff without the bulk – which is perfect, if you have weird short alligator arms, like I do (seriously, I think I’m part T-Rex).

Qadesh Fringe Earrings – $60

I love the slinky grey with the bright peach, and it kind of reminds me of chainmail (sexy chainmail – a vast improvement over chainmail I’ve previously posted about). But what makes it for me is the shape of the earrings themselves. Remember that poetry teacher you had who wore fringe earrings she bought from a gift store in Santa Fe? Yeah, these are the cooler version.

I think that’s my favorite thing about Garage Gypsy: so many of the pieces play with the familiar and make it unique. The deconstructed rose cocktail ring, the clay feathers – feathers and flower cocktail rings aren’t new, but the materials and shapes are. And isn’t that half the fun of jewelry?

Thanks to Natasha from Garage Gypsy for letting me state obvious things about her line (it’s grey and peach? I don’t really know why I write commentary on stuff I like, it’s so rarely insightful).

Do you have a line of clothing, accessories, or puppies that you like? Send them my way – unless you hated this feature, in which case, let me know. Either way, you can reach me through comments or the “Talk Back” tab at the top of the page with suggestions, complaints, conspiracy theories, whatever.

Have a good weekend guys, and thanks for reading!
