Urban Planning 2

Oh, ModCloth. I love you. You know I love you.

But I have to do this.

You guys, these are some Class-A Mom Jeans. Not only are they Mom Jeans, the model’s legs look remarkably disproportionate in them. This can be at least partly blamed on the fact that the jeans don’t fit well through the calves, but the main cause appears to be the tapered legs paired with the high waist.

When will this high-waist pants trend end? I tire of it. Yes, high waists can look kind of cool and retro on a wider legged pant. However, skinny jeans – good skinny jeans – require a delicate balance of proportions to be flattering. The high waist completely upends any chance at balanced proportions.

I will say one thing in defense of these jeans – yes, in defense. I know. Try not to get the vapors or be too aghast. But: I am shocked to see that these jeans don’t give the model average ass the way most high rise pants do. It’s not enough to redeem these jeans in my eyes, but at least they’re not entirely full of fail.

But … they are remarkably full of fail.

Haha! Great article. I have to admit I love high waists, but I definitely agree that it only looks good with the right proportion. No one likes to see the maternal cameltoe…

These companies have natural eco-advantages over their mass-market rivals, since they typically control more of their supply chain, such as tanneries. They have the resources to research and develop new production techniques.
